I can't work or study in complete silence, yet the chattering and fooling around many students engage in during class is not my idea of a pleasant working environment. Personally, I like to have music or movies going while I work. Why shouldn't students be allowed to listen to their favorite music or movie while they work? Should this be an earned privilege? Is having a pencil an earned privilege? If something helps me work better, why can't I have it?
